Construction Begins on New State-of-the-Art Student Housing Complex
NewBrook Partners (NBP), in collaboration with the 吃瓜头条 (CIM), is creating a purpose-built student housing project for CIM and other University Circle-area students, scheduled to open in summer 2020. The new building will be located at 1609 Hazel Drive, just steps from CIM鈥檚 main building in University Circle.
In a creative twist on the typical student housing, the new five-story facility will include 22 acoustically isolated practice rooms on the main floor (rare inside student housing), residence space for first- and second-year CIM undergraduates on two floors and rental units targeted at upperclass and graduate students at CIM and other University Circle-area college students on two floors. NBP will own, manage and lease the building.
鈥淏lueprint:100, the strategic plan CIM adopted in 2017, recognized and prioritized the need to address CIM鈥檚 student housing future in a next-generation way,鈥 explains Paul W. Hogle, CIM鈥檚 president and CEO. 鈥淭his new project is the first purpose-built student housing in CIM鈥檚 100-year history. By collaborating with NewBrook Partners, we are able to both provide an incredible space that will attract the world鈥檚 most talented classical music students to 吃瓜头条 and serve their needs and create a business model that allows the Institute to remain focused on raising the permanently endowed scholarships required to further lower CIM tuition.鈥
When the new student housing complex opens during CIM鈥檚 centennial year in 2020, it will boast all the conveniences today鈥檚 student expects:
- Deluxe, fully furnished units with all the comforts of home, including in-suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, laundry and full kitchens
- An acoustical-minded construction approach which reduces sound transfer suite to suite
- 19 individual and 3 chamber music-sized practice rooms available around the clock
- Secure, controlled access
- Exercise studios
- Spacious, relaxing lounges and a classroom
- Individually controlled heating and cooling
